Eternal Life

For those things that live physically, there is an innate desire to stay alive. This can be seen in plants, animals, and humans. A study of this is called biology after the Greek word for physical life, "Bios." For humans, there is the added aspect of spiritual life, Greek “Zoe.” "Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life [Zoe]. Whoever believes in me, though he die, yet shall he live [Zoe],  and everyone who lives [Zoe] and believes in me shall never die. Do you believe this?”- John 11:25,26 (ESV). If we recall that to die or death has a root meaning of separation, the issue becomes, if you die physically [separated from Bios] do you want to retain spiritual [Zoe] life, forever? This question is paramount. There is an aspect of all life that will change. All plants, animals, and humans have a life span. After some period of time, these entities cease to exist in the physical sense and will degrade into dust. Humans, however, have another aspect to their existence that does not degrade into dust; their spirit continues to exist for eternity. When one accepts Jesus as their savior, their sins are removed and they are united with Jesus and receive the indwelling Holy Spirit for eternity. This scripture then means that when one experiences physical death, their human spirit which is bound together with the Holy Spirit will continue to love and remain together with Jesus; spiritual separation or death will never occur.
