Encouragement

Every Christian servant encounters times when they need encouragement. We each face challenges when it is difficult to see beyond the barriers in front of us. In those times when we cannot devise any plausible options or even imagine what they might be, we may feel a bit alone. In these times we may become timid or even fearful. We fear failure in our efforts and disappointing those who depend on us. If the situation supports it, we may even fear physical danger. In Timothy's time of struggle, Paul sent a message to encourage him. "For this reason I remind you to fan into flame the gift of God, which is in you through the laying on of my hands. For the Spirit God gave us does not make us timid, but gives us power, love and self-discipline.” - 2 Tim. 1:6-7 (NIV) We must remember the indwelling Holy Spirit personally protects, empowers, leads, guides, enables, inspires, transforms, directs, convicts, and blesses us. When we ask Him to help, we really have no reason to be timid or fearful, we are children of the Master of the universe. The Spirit's influence is clearly seen in the release of spiritual power, the practice of loving fellowship and care among the self-disciplined discipleship of Jesus' followers, our siblings. We must be bold in the areas where the Spirit is at work in our lives!
