Mankind

Genesis tells us that God made man in His own image. There have been many opinions about what this really means. Some have offered other words such as "form," or "likeness." Certainly, Adam was a living being, much different from the other animals created because he had a spirit and soul. But how was Adam in Genesis an image of God? As believers in God, one must wait until the arrival of Jesus Christ for the complete answer. Jesus would say "I and the Father are one." (Jn. 10:30) or "Anyone who has seen me has seen the Father." (Jn. 14:9). God has always been concerned about His creation and where their spirits will spend eternity. "The Scriptures tell us, "The first man, Adam, became a living person." But the last Adam — that is, Christ — is a life-giving Spirit. - 1 Cor. 15:45 (NLT). All created humans have a spirit, those who have accepted Jesus' gift also have the Holy Spirit residing in them.
