Prophets or preachers desired to understand when God's promises would be fulfilled for salvation. We now know about this time and must share the new that earlier prophets wanted to know so badly. "trying to find out the time and circumstances to which the Spirit of Christ in them was pointing when he predicted the sufferings of Christ and the glories that would follow." 1PE 1:11 (NIV)
