Most of creation uses some sort of illumination to recognize physical objects with which they interract. Moving about, eating, defense, etc. are guided by what they see and perceive. This observation extends to opinions and behavior in the physical realm, as well. To place light or illumination on actions or behaviors drives away perceived "darkness" or unseen elements and provides perceptive clarity. The indwelling Holy Spirit provides clarity and guidance for personal and surrounding situations in the spiritual realm. "All who do evil hate the light and refuse to go near it for fear their sins will be exposed. But those who do what is right come to the light so others can see that they are doing what God wants." — John 3:20-21
