Loneliness is a powerful emotion. It is the sense that
something is missing. What is discerned as missing can be people, environment,
or other common needs. This is complicated by our perception: we can feel
lonely while in a crowd of people, yet no one with whom we can be contented.
This is usually accomplished after spending time with the other person and
sharing ourselves. As a child of God, we have a friend who lives within us
24/7/365, knows us better than we know ourselves, accepts us as we are, and
will speak to us via God’s Word any time we are
ready to listen. He may prompt us to change, but His motivation is always for
God’s glory. God's Word and
prayer is a two-way intimate conversation. “For
the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it
penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the
thoughts and attitudes of the heart.” Hebrews 4:12
